The whole thing started on a Friday night of early Feb, 2007. Candy, a parent of Arbor Glen student dropped by my home and told me a shock news – Arbor Glen could be closed according to TDSB’s revitalization program. The news was on the Toronto Star ( http://www.thestar.com/article/175160 ).
I could not believe this. My son is a Grade 2 in the school and he loves it. The school is well known for its high quality of education. “We must do something to save the school”, Candy said. I totally agreed simply because Arbor Glen is an excellent school and an integrated part of the wonderful community here.
It turned out many parents did not know the news. Candy and a group of people did a great job to create awareness, contact with Ward 12 TDSB Trustee, MPP of the Willowdale area. In just one week, there were about 200 signatures to support the saving of Arbor Glen. People care very much about the school. The tremendous efforts of the parents and the community are greatly valued and appreciated.
The revitalization program may take years to evolve. This blog is created to keep track how things will develop, more importantly, to share the ideas and comments. Welcome to add comments.
